La Cabane d'Ambroise is located in a historic district between the Capucins market and the boulevards. Place Nansouty is the heart of the district. Saint-Jean station, less than 10 minutes away, is a real asset. Lively and residential, the area lies between the Garonne and the Saint-Genes district. Formerly a suburb that opened onto both the city and the Bordeaux farmlands, the Nansouty sector became a real neighbourhood in the 19th century, when the middle-class houses along its courtyards were built. Numerous shops sprang up around the square. The working classes also moved into the area, which is now renowned for its fine shops. Its past as a Faubourg has left the Nansouty district with a village feel, particularly around the church of Sainte-Geneviève. Long known as Place de la Pyramide, the square was not named Nansouty until 1865, in honour of a Napoleonic army general.
The House
Built in the spirit of the oyster-farmers who used to work on the shores of the Basin, the Cabane d'Ambroise has 4 bedrooms, each with its own shower room and separate toilet, air conditioning, television and a sitting area. A south-facing balcony terrace completes the rooms, decorated in the Art Deco style of post-war New York hotels. Guests can relax by the heated swimming pool, which borders a patio garden.
